When one gets an invitation to an Act 1 performance you know you are going to be treated well and SpongeBob didn’t disappoint. On arrival we were handed a superb Programme.
I saw SpongeBob on Broadway years ago, albeit an adult version, but I didn’t like it at all. Maybe something to do with my age, so I was happy to see what a youth group would do with it.
I need not have worried, Act 1 you smashed it out of the hall!!! I need not say any more, but I will.
Cian Dooley - what an actor, what a singer, what a performer. You young man should be very proud of yourself. You took this part and made it your own, just like a true professional you headed this cast class for one so young. Keep this up and give us many more class acting and singing performances.
Cian was teamed with Amelia Martin (Sandy Cheeks) and Elliot Martin (Patrick Star) both supported Cian at a high standard of ability in their parts. With a cast of 33 in the ensemble it would take me six pages to mention you all, so a big congratulations go out to all of you, from the youngest to the oldest.
My word what a polished performance you gave us, great direction from Alice Jewell and Felicity Blackwell as musical arranger. costumes, sound and set were all executed well. Act 1 you have changed my mind about SpongeBob. Thank you thank you for giving my guest and I a perfect evening at Birchington and for keeping your audience enthralled with you all, I know they enjoyed it as they were standing at the end for you. That says it all!
