Our Story
The theatre group was founded in August 1997 with the aim to provide a variety of amateur entertainment. Known as the Westgate Pavilion Theatre Group, it consisted of mainly adults, however children were invited to perform as and when needed within shows.
In 2002 the group expanded, forming a youth section that have since gone on to stage many successful productions. As the group grew, we moved location and became Act 1 Theatre Group.
Upon celebrating 'Act 1 Theatre Group's' 20th anniversary, it was decided that our brand needed a refresh to match our modern and bold vision for the future. Therefore we evolved into Act 1 Productions.
Act 1 Productions is a non-profit making group with all monies made being put towards future projects. Internal fundraising efforts helps us provide top-quality experiences for our members. The group enjoy showcasing a variety of talents and therefore produce plays, musicals, pantomimes and variety shows. We also enjoy participating in local events, including Margate Carnival, to gain publicity for upcoming shows and gain interest from new prospective members.
We welcome anyone over the age of 7 regardless of gender, culture, experience or disability. Our ethos is that 'anyone should have the chance to join in'. We believe everyone should have the chance to shine therefore we do not believe in auditioning members to join our company.

Our Team
Act 1 Productions is run by a hard working and dedicated committee of volunteers, fuelled by their passion and dedication to our members. Together, they plan, organise, and execute all aspects of our company, to bring their shared visions to life.
Every event from fundraisers to socials, rehearsals and productions are made possible through the time and energy that our volunteers generously contribute. Sharing a common goal in ensuring theatre is an accessible, creative outlet for all and to celebrate the joy of live theatre.
