13 the Musical

JUL 2023

Directed & Choreographed by: Alice Jewell

Full of energetic dance routines well-structured and mastered by the young actors, singers, and dancers – it rolled along with energy, colour and enthusiasm.  There wasn’t one member of this young cast that didn’t give 13 The Musical their absolute best to entertain their Birchington audience.  We quickly settled into the various characters and their individual stories. It cleverly tapped into the innocence of being an adolescent and gave a glimpse into youthful discovery and, in particular, the significance of ‘tongues'!

Congratulations to Douglas Manclark – playing Evan – the focus/lead of the story. On stage almost continually from your early entrance to the final curtain.  You never faltered – constant in confidence, energy, and delivery.  Your audience trusted you from your first entrance to you last bow.  Accent, character, acting, re-acting, and singing – fantastic. You managed a considerable work load with aplomb. Similarly, Archie played by Dylan Palmer – confident and unashamedly manipulative – while being likeable!  Well done too to Chey Thomas who played geeky Patrice and the desirable Kendra played by Kacie Zannetti was a worthy idol of the ‘boys’ adoration.  You and your fellow ‘cheerleaders’ were a joy to watch.  Excellent routines, vibrant and energetic.

To the whole cast – congratulations you were all stars.  Your audience were thoroughly entertained and it was clear how hard you had worked both individually and as a team.  A triumph for the production team – clearly well led by Alice Jewell your first as a director. Don’t make it your last you have a flare for it. Thank you, we loved our evening at ‘13 the Musical.’
